At Acorns Nursery, children are at the heart of all we do. We are incredibly proud of our Ofsted-rated Outstanding nursery (June 2023). It is a very special place where children are encouraged to learn through play, making each day an exciting adventure.
We offer a warm, nurturing environment that supports children in building their confidence, social skills, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. Our bespoke nursery building provides a varied and stimulating learning space, carefully designed to inspire curiosity and creativity.
Our children enjoy exclusive access to their own nursery playground, nestled within our larger Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) playground. As part of Claygate Primary School, we are fortunate to benefit from being part of a vibrant school community, with access to its extensive facilities and the expertise of its dedicated staff.
We look forward to welcoming you and your child to experience all that Acorns Nursery has to offer.

This year is definitely passing us by very quickly, especially as we approach our final half-term! We're taking a moment to celebrate all the incredible experiences from our Spring 2 topic: Animals! We had some very special visitors in our classes - our school guinea pigs, and a variety of pets brought in by our lovely families, including rabbits, dogs, cats and even rats! The children showed our school values beautifully: being respectful and responsible, friendly, safe and healthy, achievers and not forgetting that many were incredibly courageous, giving our animal friends a gentle stroke or cuddle. We explored all kinds of animals - domestic, working, wild, and sea - through stories, play, real-life encounters and exciting trips! Out in Mini-Woodies, the children became nature explorers - going on bug hunts, investigating minibeast habitats, and building their own homes for our woodland creatures. In class, we observed the life cycles of tadpoles and caterpillars, watching them grow into froglets and butterflies. We were so proud to release our froglets into the school pond and let our butterflies fly free into the world - a truly magical moment! In PE, Reception focused on gymnastics, using the hall apparatus with confidence and care, showing how we stay safe and healthy. One of the highlights was Reception's train trip to London to visit the Sea Life Centre, where we came face-to-fin with fascinating marine creatures! Meanwhile, Acorns had an exciting visit from Zoo Lab, meeting some extraordinary creatures up close and learning how to care for them. As part of our RE learning, we explored the importance of Lent to Christians in the lead-up to Easter. We also celebrated Pancake Day by preparing our own ingredients and even having a go at flipping pancakes - with lots of giggles and great teamwork! We're so proud of the curiosity, care, and courage our children showed throughout the half-term - what a rich and memorable learning journey!
